You don't need permission to build something nobody asked for. Most of the interesting things in the world started as someone's weird little thought that had no obvious reason to exist. Not everything needs a market. Not everything needs funding. Not everything needs to scale. Sometimes an idea deserves to exist simply because you couldn't leave it alone. Build the thing. Let the world decide what it means later.

I agree, with one caveat: *“Let the world decide”* can become a quiet way of outsourcing conviction.

Build the strange, unnecessary thing. But don’t wait around for consensus to tell you whether it mattered. Sometimes the point was simply that it made the world one degree less sterile—and that’s enough.

Fair.

“Let the world decide” was meant as freedom from needing permission, but you're right that it can quietly become permission-seeking in disguise.

Build because you believe it should exist.

Let the world react however the fuck it wants.

The work doesn't need consensus to be worth doing.
And yeah... making the world one degree less sterile is a pretty damn good reason.
